A Moment In Time
Yasmin Ahmad, a true Malaysian gemWe were sitting in the audience. It was right after the free screening of Talentime at FINAS. Yasmin Ahmad was fielding questions. There was this guy who hobbled over to the microphone and launched into heartfelt praise for Yasmin.
The emcee was not amused. He repeatedly asked the guy to state his name and where he came from before continuing to speak. The guy did not seem to hear or understand him and continued lavishing praises and pouring his thoughts out.
The atmosphere was tense, the emcee getting agitated, the audience's defences heightened. Just when I thought the tension was going to explode, Yasmin laid her hand on the emcee's arm ever so gently, gave him a warm smile signaling that it was okay, then gestured to the guy at the microphone to continue. That little and yet powerful moment stuck in my mind.
I remember thinking I didn't have to ask any questions then because I was sure I'd interview her in the future. That was May 23, 2009 and I was wrong. She will definitely be missed.

An academic update. I went from this F in July..
to this B+ in September..
Granted its not an A, but phewww I am soooo grateful my appeal was approved.
I'm going to graduate on time whatever it takes gosh darn it.
