The Megalosaurus' of all birthdays
Took me forever to get this post done but here it is!
The craziest birthday ever! This will be a log of all the "atrocities" that was inflicted on me. It started with a long distance call from dear
Zee who proceeded to surprise the bejeebers out of me haha. I had been adamant about having a
play-bridge-and-How I Met Your Mother-marathon birthday this year but Jolene told me she refused to honour my request. The nerve man! Haha -_-"

So at 2.30am, these wacky friends who were going to torture me with an
Amazing Race styled birthday braved the pouring rain and came over bearing
2 cakes. Sweet surprise. The candles were the cutest things! Colourful and glittery. They left me with instructions to sleep early. Erm. Our time clock is definitely warped when 3.30am is considered early. At this point, I had no idea what had been planned for the day.
All was top secret hush hush.I woke up to the most amazingly delicious spaghetti lunch prepared by Bera! Best meal I've had in awhile. Upon Jolene's strict instructions, Bera brought me to the train station, passed me a bag with a pen, tissue and a Touch-N-Go card inside then proceeded to confiscate everything else I had besides that, even my money!!!!
My first clue. The middle in between of two mountains. Turns out a valley is found between two mountains! Which points to
MidValley Megamall and there I was thinking that I was supposed to go to Raja Chulan which is the station in between 2 "hills' - Bukit Bintang and Bukit Tinggi. Blur me!
But I am forgiven because I just got robbed of everything I had!Taking the KTM train on a public holiday
(Hari Raya)...such crowds! Some random Fitness First promoter approached me and I thought it was part of the evil
(and yet amazingly thoughtful) birthday plan! Upon reaching MidValley, I got my second clue. See if you can solve all the clues without referring to the answers heh!
1st station. Lilean and
Kok Hao were waiting at
Secret Recipe with a surprise cake and apology note written on tissue paper from Mei Cher saying she could not make it for the celebration! I had no inkling of how many stations were to come after that and how many friends were in on this amazingly crafted
(on hindsight) race.
I had time to slowly munch on cake before they surprised me further with pretty girly sandals, suitable for many different types of functions. Practical gift and they got my shoe size right! How awesome. I switched footwear before I was passed my next clue.

I think every ASEAN scholar would excel in solving this clue! Haha. The confusing thing was MidValley does not have a middle court!
It has a Centre Court which is totally not the same as middle court! That's my argument and I'm sticking to it :P
2nd station. Jolene (the mastermind) and
Gideon were there to greet me and present me the first true torture of the day. They gave me
10 poses drawn on a paper and asked me to do them all. In the middle of the huge shopping mall. Where tons of people are passing by. Thank goodness I had the guts to do it. In fact, they were surprised they hardly had to use any of their persuasion skills to cajole me into doing silly poses.
The ballerina. Did the best I could haha. That was supplemented by the egyptian, sumo wrestler, rabbit, chinese vampire, act cute with peace sign, robot and
an Ultraman pose!! Seriously!? Ultraman?! I realise the faster I did them, the less embarrassing it was =D
Gideon's downfall was including the Dragonball pose in the list. I couldn't possibly do it alone, could I? Look at his forced smile! While the grin pasted on my face is one of true glee hehe absolutely enjoyed the fact that he had to suffer the same torture I went through! :P

Assuming that I would be thirsty, Jolene bought a bottle of juice for me. Good assumption! That bottle of juice would later save my life. They also got me
Peppero, one of the nicest chocolate biscuit snacks around! Jolene promised me she'd wear a dress but look at what she is wearing!

Puzzles! The day was filled with puzzles I feared I could not solve! Thank goodness my journey was so far so good. My next stop - MPH was just nearby.
These brilliant minds even planned for consecutive stations to be near each other! How considerate!3rd station. Patricia was there and she gave me an easy task at first - pick out a book I would like for my Christmas present. Then came the hard part. I was to approach 3 complete strangers wearing my favourite colour
(BLUE!) and say, "You are beautiful inside and out." This was much much harder than doing the silly poses! The poor strangers I talked to gave me quite weird looks but one guy did nicely turn back and wish me Happy Birthday =)
Most time consuming clue ever! Plus I made a mistake and got a totally gibberish message! The numbers signify the chapter, verse and alphabet! I thought the last number signified a whole word! Wasted way too much time on this, this is when I got behind schedule.
And at this juncture, I had to sms the password "STUPID ME" to the headquarters for help! The things I have to do on my birthday, just unbelievable. Finished the juice here. Majorly thirsty!
4th station at the Takoyaki stall. David was there waiting for me
(for quite awhile since the Bible clue took me so long haha). He wanted to buy me Takoyaki but I was still full from the cake. In the end, he settled my treat by getting me hairbands
(I couldn't buy them myself since my money was confiscated @_@), a sundae and mineral water.
Halfway through the cool chilling sundae, David pulled out a surprise gift!
P.S. I Love You! I had just told Patricia in MPH that I've always wanted to get that book and here I am presented with my wish so soon!
Perfectly coordinated! *pats Jolene, Patricia and David's backs*
I got an easy riddle to follow up the difficult Bible one! I was given RM3 at this stage to buy a blue toothbrush. Goodness knows why the masterminds included such a strange request.
5th station. Bera found me wandering around the foodcourt. He wanted to get me something to snack on in the foodcourt but I was still full from the sundae and the cake haha. Just thirsty. The best parts of this whole race was the stops I made. It was always a pleasant surprise to see who was waiting for me at each station. Apart from all the outrageous things I had to do, everyone treated me so well and made me feel so loved =)
Little did I know, Bera then made me camwhore 5 different poses with the toothbrush! Camwhoring is sooooo not my specialty! He should take my place! =D
*commercial break*
Presenting to you the headquarters of the
Amazing Survivor Race. The rest had to wait hours and hours for me to get through the race. They got so bored they started to camwhore random shots. They would later complain of sore butts to me!
Look at Mei Cher's expression! Hilarious! Fortunately the brilliant masterminds created this race in a fully air-conditioned place. Thank my lucky stars.

This clue should not have been a tough one but I jumped to wild conclusions that it referred to California Fitness where a couple of SYTYCD dancers teach at. I had a sneaky suspicion that my crazy dance enthusiast
Mei Cher was lying in wait at this next station but she had previously told me she was back in her hometown! Can't believe I fell for that.
6th station. Colour splash photo of me at the Dance Dance Revolution machine. I had no idea there was even an arcade in MidValley!
Total noobs should not be made to try out DDR in front of so many seasoned DDR fanatics! Huwah!
Hence witness the strangulation of Mei Cher.At this point, it was 5 hours into the race and I received yet another clue! I figured there must be no end to this game and I was doomed to roam the halls of MidValley forever and ever and ever and forever and ever and forever and ever and ever and infinity.
This clue stumped me. Flat green face? Colourful pimples? Pet's Wonderland was alarmingly near to the arcade so I racked my brains to think which animal had a flat green face and colourful pimples?! Snakes? Fish? Totally didn't make sense. I should have walked around and realised a pool place was just nearby!
Flat green face = pool table. Colourful pimples = pool balls.Who in the world thought up this crazy stuff? Mind boggling.
7th station. An extremely cool surprise!
Su Cheng,
Ley Lynn and
Bobo were there sitting by a pool table! Too bad we had no time to play! Four of us. Just nice for a game of 2-on-2. Su Cheng gave me a handmade birthday card cum photoframe. Love it! =)
Four of us playfully bully each other all the time or as they'd like to claim, I always bully them. Haha guilty as charged, I can't deny those accusations. Their idea of bullying me on my birthday was to buy me an awfully sour lime and lemon ice cream to be finished in record time! Yikes!
I was told this was the last clue. Hooray! Three of them kinda told me the place before I even solved the clue hahah but I was adamant in figuring out the chemical equation. I managed to fish out magnesium, sodium, helium, zinc, carbon, iron, lead and calcium from my deteriorated periodic table knowledge.
8 out of 11. Not bad!I took this chance to call up my sisters
(yep long distance) to find out the remaining
3 mystery substances. The call was also to test how well prepared they are for the upcoming 'A' Levels heh! I found out I had no idea what Su was because there is no freaking Su in the periodic table!
Sulphur is S. Not Su. I even took the liberty of checking online 2 seconds ago. One mistake in this almost perfect race :P
8th and last station! Finally reached Sushi Zanmai after 6 hours! The rest had been waiting an hour for me to show up. Madly starving, they still waited for me before they started on all the food already laid on the table.
My favourite soft shell crab arrived before me. Knowing that I haven't had any soft shell crab ever in Malaysia, Jolene planned this last stop just to satisfy my cravings. Sweetest ever. Much love ^_^

These friends I have suffer from the click happy syndrome, taking pictures non-stop, even of me on the phone with
Reren! Just when I thought the day was over, the waiter brought out the final surprise of the night.
Chocolate mousse cake! I can't understand how my request for no cakes actually churned out four cakes in a day. Speechless.
The group who went through so much trouble to make my 22nd birthday special and memorable. The idea was originally suggested by
Matt (who could not make it) and then Jolene and David created this masterpiece race with help from the rest. The long distance calls, smses, FB messages and gifts each made me smile a little wider that day.
The amount of effort you guys put in seriously amazes me. Even though I insisted that you guys should not make a fuss about my birthday after the big 21, you did! Reverse psychology must have occurred. I realise this blog won't do justice in expressing my deeply buried mushy thanks but let me just say, I was so touched on my birthday, still am now and definitely will remember this unique day always ^_^

The abandoned clue and station. Thanks for understanding my no piercings stand =)

God's plan
Pastor Yong (from my hometown church) said at the beginning of this year:
If you knew ahead of time what God's plan was for you, you'd say, "Oh no Lord, I couldn't possibly get through such hardships you have in mind for me, it's too difficult! Lord, I give up!"
For me, I look back at all the crazy stuff I've been through, (toughest time started in Singapore plus now and then in KL) and I thank God for them. The path I've walked sort of shaped me.
The friends I've made never ceases to amaze me. How they were placed to enhance my life, how they are just there. To make me smile on bad days. To tear with me on happy days.
And perhaps that's a good reason not to know what is ahead of you, but live life positively, ready to take on any challenge while aiming for your ambitious goals.
It's that ability to take the horrible things around you and be able to find the amazing value in them that truly makes life all the more awesome.
P.S. Birthday post. I promised it so long ago but I still have 4 pictures in mind I need but have yet to obtain. So patience till end of this week yep!
