'Russian' Invasion
Definition of Stuce: Someone slightly wacky who shows up in Singapore at the weirdest times and at such frequency that you almost believe she never left the country.
Characteristics: Very supportive of Saints and SAJC Dance, thus you'll most likely spot her at the annual dance concert Rapture.
Extra information: Ticketing problems occur every year and this year was no different. Sigh, Stuce wishes CK and Akshay had been there.
Reren was engrossed in her brand new Harry Potter book. Sherly, Mike and I played pool! I beat Sherly, Sherly beat Mike, Mike beat me. Eh? Weird. But at least we all won and lost. We're even! By the way, Singapore has banned smoking from all clubs, K-Box places and pool places..woohoo! Fresh air! =)
A visit to Singapore would not be complete without a trip to ECP. They had new attractions like water-skiing and sandcastle building workshops. Zee, Yean Ching and I got to teach Bridge! Man, after donkey, kangaroo and panda years, we are 'forcing' people to learn the ultimate card game again! Playing bridge on the breezy much-missed beach with awesome friends, there's no better combination =)
How come I never realized this before? It was kind of hilarious seeing that painted on the road. We didn't cycle in the end but we did have dinner at this supposedly famous restaurant which I can't recall the name. Food was pretty good but the chairs were the best thing there. We devised plans to smuggle one of those comfy orange chairs out but we chickened out in the end haha.
Normally we'd avoid our extremely green ex-secondary school. Only one teacher could make us wake up early and travel the long distance back to that place. He is none other than Cikgu Zain! ^_^ oh how we miss those Higher Malay lessons, it was the most enjoyable subject of all! He's funny and lets us get away with stuff too. He used to advise us to study hard, now he advises us to start looking for future partners. Haha how times have changed!
Since we left, there has been an addition to the Higher Malay classroom- a gong! Cikgu hits it whenever students are noisy. According to my junior, "Cikgu sure loves to pukul the gong". I'm not surprised. Comic is in his blood!
Cikgu determined our seats back then and he deliberately got us to sit with the locals, we definitely benefited from that. 3 years later, we are back in our old seats, reading Malay novels (singular for some mischievous ones) just like we used to.
TK canteen has had a face lift. Its more colourful now but thank goodness the food and the prices remain the same. Our stop for a filling lunch while Cikgu prepared for his next class. $1.50 for chicken rice. $1.00 for Mee Siam. $0.50 for drinks. Cheap!
The chicken rice stall uncle and auntie remembers me! That's because I was the only student who spoke Cantonese to them. Yum, they knew me so well back then I could cut the queue easily =P We indulged in our other old favourites - Mee Siam and Mee Soto. Avoided ordering Ice Milo as usual.
Moving on to Suntec City and then Marina Square. Have you heard of Azabu Sabo? Its Reren's and Sherly's favourite dessert place now. Jap styled desserts. Worth a try! Oh yes, Liz and Tjen, Zee 's Malaysian friends from Russia got dragged by us wherever we felt like going. Group effort as tour guides!
From there to Esplanade and travelling next to VivoCity. Pink black pink black, what a coincidence. These big kids just love wading in the sky park 'pools'.
Another attraction catered for kids - fake horses and is that a giraffe I see at the end there? Reren kindly offered to pay for my ride but then again she threatened to record it and put the video up on youtube. I've got a reputation to keep man! So no ride ='(
The only existing Marche in Singapore right now is located in VivoCity. Its pretty much the same as the old outlets but somehow the ambience feels much better! They've got much more detailed decorations now.
Looking at all the food had me salivating. You can never go wrong with anything you order in here. Everything tastes so good and the portions really fill you up.
Our cosy little corner with a cow peeking in at our little gathering. The 4E2 classmates: me, Sherly, Reren, Diana, Zee and Farhana. These innocent looking people have a not-so-innocent past. Playing bridge in class while the teacher was teaching, what rebels. We discovered Reren and Diana could still imitate our ex-teachers' mannerisms and speech perfectly!
I just love the new Marche!
Nope we didn't watch The Simpsons. That's because its not out yet! We watched Transformers instead. What a considerably old movie haha surprisingly all of us haven't caught it yet, well that worked out just fine. Cool movie but don't analyze it too much!
Oh yes, Reren got loads of compliments for her hair. Blue and blonde streaks phew. We wanted to meet Mrs Gan but she flew to Vietnam ah till next time.Su San, my favourite pianist didn't play!!! ='(

How exciting! ^_^
There were relatively less ticketing headaches this year compared to previous years. No last minute requests, no final hour scampering for more tickets and surprisingly those whom I thought would be overseas will be around to join me. Yay! Free seating though. That means we have to be there early or I will go nuts. Reminds me of the time Yean Ching tried to book a whole row for us and she's not even from SA. One person power! Hilarious!

Mashed Up
Academic update? Let's rank the subjects so far, shall we?
- Public Speaking - Something that usually people rightfully fear. I mean, getting up and speaking to an audience isn't really something calming for your nerves. But thanks to a twist of fate, this semester, we have an awesome lecturer! I'm just having so much fun in this class. The parts I enjoy most is when he tells all those stories he's got up his sleeve =)
- Journalism - My major. What really pushed this 3 hour long class up in the rankings for me is the rush of excitement in completing interviews successfully. Also the high you get when you settle on a news story idea =)
- Basic Photography - Creative. Subjective. Challenging. Thinking out of the box. I just wish we had more assignments haha when does a student ever say that?
- Moral Studies - The only reason this is ranked higher than Advanced English is because I don't get mental anguish over ethics.
- Advanced English - Not exactly smooth sailing.
My dad surprised me by pulling out one of his old, torn, tattered and yet still intact diaries for me. He flipped the pages to this particular song.

The Malaysian Clique
Bridge, one of the loves of my life.
2 weeks ago, I had a taste of bridge and a glass of English Breakfast Tea Latte. 2 things that make me happy =)
But nothing made me happier that day than the company I had!
The ex-TK girls. The East Coast gang. The people I would skip class for (shhhhh..) A time of uncontrollable goofiness and lots of HUGS! Its interesting how we've kind of changed and yet we really haven't changed at all. Just like old times? Well, maybe not, I said some things I shouldn't have! Now Zee says she'll think twice before inviting me to her future wedding!! Yikes oh my damn. I swear I'll behave! ;PMcD breakfast. Kim Gary lunch. Coffee Bean tea. The fastest 6 and a half hours ever. Too much to talk about, not enough time! Interesting cultural stories about Russia (Zee), horror stories about Singapore's stressful life (Yean Ching), lack of technology stories about 'kampung' Kedah (Seetha) and humorous stories about uni life in KL (me). We all miss ECP!
Someone insisted on taking a typical Singaporean photo in the toilet haha. Lots of stares from the women in there with us. I imagine we looked like total nut cases. Thinking back, the journey of our friendship was kinda rough but in a way, the troubles we had brought us to where we are right now tight together 5 and a half years later. So short in digits yes but feels like a lifetime. Need to brainstorm a way for me to get back on Zee's wedding invite list LOL.I can't wait for my next Singapore visit! Gonna go find other more abusive friends that I would skip class for. Yay! I deciphered the hidden meaning behind Reren's warning tag so...I promise not to blog about Rapture more than twice. This one doesn't count so beware in the future 2 posts coming your way! But darn I wanted to blog about SYTYCD America! I'll give you guys a break from the dance world haha.

SYTYCD Malaysia Finals
The finals went on down last night and the winner is....ALAM!
Humble likeable guy. On hearing that he was indeed Malaysia's Favourite Dancer, he was overwhelmed and broke down in tears (I think he collapsed on the floor but I wouldn't know, the head of the woman in front of me was too enormous to be true sigh). Celebrations all over the stage, hugs, tears, congratulations. Let me end the drama and bring you back to the beginning.The first person we saw entering Ruums was none other than choreographer Yannus Sufandi!!! OH my freaking goodness!!! How lucky were we?! Of course we had to take pictures! But my camera malfunctioned. *insert all sorts of vulgarities here* Argh what a waste! But my friend Jolene got a good one with him so I'll just put it up here to showcase his HOT-ness haha.
Ok time to stop drooling over his coolness and get on with the show. I mean it Jolene! Scroll down!
The hosts of the night-Jehan and Juliana looked compatible in their matching clothes. Nice tie! This is the best Jehan's ever looked on the show. There must be something about guys in formal clothes. Juliana was looking pretty herself with wedge heels so high, you could do serious damage with them.
What is a finals show without bringing back the Top 20? They all looked hot and danced absolutely well. Super energetic and full of attitude, kinda makes you wonder why some of them aren't in the finals. Good to see Sean (eliminated way too early in my opinion) back again!
First dance of the night was a nerdy geek show with Dennis and Alam. Halfway through, they shed the geeky glasses and shirts to the delighted screams of the crowd. Now that's the real hip hopper and break dancer we know. They went on to marvel the crowd with their stunts.
The girls Sue and Brancy brought along canes to execute their Jazz routine. As one of the judges-Tiara Jacquelina aptly put it, there won't be a single guy going back that night who wouldn't remember this. Even I thought they looked so fine and sexy. Phew.
Traditional couples time. Sue and Dennis took the stage in a Foxtrot number. One so suave and the other so beautiful. They seemed as if they glided on stage. Actually maybe we weren't really looking at their dance but just stunned at how amazing they looked haha.
Next we had Malay Contemporary from Brancy and Alam. I'm a sucker for this. The song is light and breezy. The choreography is fun. I liked it from the first time I saw Nikki and Yuz do it.The Top 4 treated us to 4 solo dances of their choice. Alam in his element-breakdancing. Dennis firing up the passion and excitement as a Spanish matador in a bull fight. Sue did her ballet and contemporary. Brancy titillated the crowd with her own unique style.
I didn't see Yannus again but I managed to bump into Peter Ong! Another choreographer on the show who gave us Mambo. Why are all the famous people I bump into so friendly and nice?? Peter Ong is well-known in the Dancesport arena and is the founder and executive director of The Dance Space. He's got lots of other accolades which I simply can't fit into this paragraph.
I suspect they whipped the dancers off for a celebration cum press conference session so no picture with Dennis yet again. So we settled for second best- Zhen (haha he knew he was second choice but that's in jest!) So in the end, we've got a picture with the Superstar parents and the second choice. Though Dennis didn't win, the spirits were still pretty high. All in all, a good night =)
