He...

He can turn the tides and calm the angry sea
He alone decides who writes a symphony
He
lights every star that makes our darkness bright
He keeps watch all through each long and lonely night
He still finds the time to hear a child’s first prayer
Saint or sinner call will always find Him there
Though it makes Him sad to see the way we live
He’ll always say, “I forgive

He can grant a wish and make a dream come true
He can touch the clouds and turn the grey to blue
He alone knows where to find the rainbow’s end
He alone can know what lies beyond the bend
He
can touch a tree and turn the leaves to gold
He knows every lie that you and I have told
Though it makes Him sad to see the way we live
He’ll always say, “I forgive

I've always liked this song ever since I was just a little kid, singing along with all the church adults. Funny how a few Sundays back, my dad led this song during worship in church (I had forgotten this song existed). Sweet melody and words =)

U Drive Me Crazy by N'SYNC

Funny MTV with a cute storyline. N'SYNC is trying to impress a record producer. Watch it!
This is especially for those who keep telling me that this song does not exist. Hmph. Britney's not the only one with a 'U Drive Me Crazy' song alright! And I actually remember the chorus after all these years of not hearing it =D

You drive me crazy
Why are you messin' with my mind?
You drive me crazy
Why are you tellin' all these lies?
You drive me crazy
Stop doing all these things to me!
You drive me crazy
'Cause all I want is to be free!

Movie Marathon

The movie marathon started off with Su San at my place.
We kicked it off with..

Mona Lisa Smile
Julia Roberts makes my day.
Julia Stiles not really.
There was one scene where Kirsten Dunst was cursing Maggie Gyllenhall, calling her a whor* and a bitc* and I was so sure that Maggie would slap her hard. But instead she went and hugged Kirsten. What a friend! She understood why Kirsten was cursing her (personal issues) and went and hugged her! Man, that was the most memorable scene for me.

Anastasia
The real mystery of Anastasia intrigues me. And everytime I hear Journey to the Past, I think of Aaliyah and how tragic it is that she's gone ='(

Romeo and Juliet
Leonardo DiCaprio and Claire Danes. What's not to like? ;)
Romeo, oh Romeo, why is your name Romeo?
My favourite song from this movie ain't Kissing You by Desiree, its the song that the church choir sings at Romeo and Juliet's wedding. I remember liking it so much the first time I watched it but forgot the tune. Then after that Tiang Lim came home with the DVD! Wahaha..so happy then..I immediately forwarded to that scene and I still like the song just the same =)

*lyrics(if I recall correctly)*
Brother and sister, together we'll make it through
Someday a spirit will find you and guide you there
And I know you've been hurting but I've been waiting to be there for you
And I'll be there right by your side whenever I can
*lyrics*

The Devil Wears Prada
Respect Meryl Streep.

The Black Dahlia
Josh Hartnett and Scarlett Johannson.
This was really confusing because we couldn't really hear what they were saying. Maybe I should check out the real story of Elizabeth Short's unsolved murder case. That'd be interesting.

Click
Adam Sandler!! One heck of an actor!
If the movie had ended with Adam Sandler's character dying on that street in the rain, I would still have loved it, he really knows how to insert poignant moments without it being cheesy, stupid or overdone (watch The Longest Yard!).

Da Vinci Code
I have no idea why those who read the book hated the movie?
I watched the movie, read the book & watched the movie AGAIN.
I find I appreciate the movie even more!
Sure, there are parts that do not follow the book closely.
But those are just MINOR changes!
They make the movie more exciting, less confusing and concise.
My favourite part has got to be at the end when Robert Langdon realises where The Holy Grail is. How would I be able to imagine all those amazing paintings and settings without the movie? Absolutely grand and beautiful.

Memoirs of a Geisha
Gong Li, Michelle Yeoh and Zhang Ziyi delivered.
Oscar winner for best art direction, best costume and best cinematography, I can see why.

Brokeback Mountain
A movie with depth. Might not appeal to a wide range of audience.

You Got Served
Felt like watching all those awesome cool dance moves yet again.
Am surprised to find out that the song Anxiety in this movie is sung by Black Eyed Peas!

Friday the 13th

How lucky that we have a Friday on the 13th in the month of Halloween so that we can have an authentic Friday the 13th party! Oops. Friday the 13th? Lucky? Total contradiction there.

We were thinking of costumes that were simple and didn't require much hassle and somewhere along the way, we decided to look good instead of scary! Haha..we also refused to get our faces dirty with makeup so we thought of masks. We had to get kid Spidey masks to activate our master plan.

I swear we would have scared people off with these masks alone! Erm..not as in really frighten them, but people will avoid us 2 weirdo kids like the plague. LOL.

The process was pretty fun! And my mask was inspired by the Phantom of the Opera. The finished products! Quite cool I think =)

We showed up fashionably late just to be early. My gosh, we were late and we actually waited an hour more for it to start! It was like those typical haunted houses when we walked in..a guided walkway with lots of scary stuff hung here and there and lying about. Not to mention 'ghosts' grabbing your feet from underneath the table.

We took pictures with random freaky people. It was quite nice to see a huge variety of costumes. It was interesting! Especially one particular group dressed in a mix of cowboy hats/skeleton masks/Darth Vader capes. They were cool! Too bad we didn't get a good picture of them. They would be the life of any party man, they looked really good dancing out on the floor =D

From left: Not sure who, Li Lean and Jolene (Goth gals) smiling for the camera

I think this has got to be the funniest costume ever that we saw at the party =D

Us hanging out with Patricia at the bar. She's got a huge spider web on her face and purple hair!
Not advisable to walk home from uni when it is nearing midnight (Su San's parents would kill me if we were mugged/raped/stabbed on the way home) so I got us an escort. This is Ossie! He claims he brought a scary mask to the party but I didn't see it at all! =D

My 2 favourite photos of the night! Don't you guys agree that Su San looks absolutely bewitching in that witch's hat? ;)

There was a best costume competition which of course we didn't win. We danced, took photos, videos and ate finger food. We got bored so we took more photos. Last photo of this post. Us being cheeky!

It wouldn't have been as much fun without you San! We make our own fun. Heh heh. Reminds you of the days of organising ASEAN Dance aye? Anyway, kudos to the council for putting in all the effort that they did even though the party itself left much to be desired.

The Banquet

I watched The Banquet over the weekend.
Wasn't in the mood for brainless comedy.
The whole movie was in Mandarin.
I kept reading the English subtitles out of habit.
Haha..I do that even for English shows so what do you expect?

The cinematography was stunningly beautiful.
Awesome scenery. Awesome shots.
I like the way the director heavily integrated martial arts with dance.
Watch out for the swordplay scene between Zhang Ziyi and Daniel Wu.
Their movements were so gracefully synchronized.
A dance of total harmony.
Like a perfect symphony.
Alas, if only Wu Luan (Daniel Wu) had survived at the end.

My mooncake festival (which I don't really celebrate) this year had little bite-sized mooncakes in the form of chess pieces filling my stomach. Yep, delicious! And I like it all the more because they are bite-sized! Thanks Ying Herng! =)

Back to Basics

Children's Day!
PRC National Day.
30 days to Halloween.
85 days to Christmas.

This year it was back to basics.

A cake at midnight. Thanks to Jo (in the middle) and my housemates-Wei Way and Priya! They sneakily switched off my room lights while I was busy writing and appeared with the cake and 2 lighted candles (20 yrs YOUNG). Really appreciate the effort and thoughtfulness ^_^

On this day I'm also thankful for:
The long distance calls-Sarawak, Singapore and JAPAN!!! It was absolutely great to hear all your much-missed voices =)
The smses. You guys remembered! And I've not forgotten all of you either.
The surprise mail in my letter box. Blue card in a blue envelope!
The tags on my cbox. Sudden flood. Haha =D
And the emails. The wonders of internet.

*back track* Yean Ching came back for a short holiday! So plans were set in motion to meet up. I went Klang after class and was warmly received by Su San (nope she didn't drive me even though she got her license already..next time gal!) We visited the pasar malam and I got these cute Baby Pooh stickers. What's that you say? I'm too old for stickers? Haha..I don't care.

Su San and I met up with Yean Ching for supper at mamak!

And Reren should be thankful that we actually had 3 hours together because we only saw Yean Ching 1 hour before we had to go. Destress-ing session. I had a great time staying over at Su San's place! Anymore of these sleepovers and our eyebags will be HUMONGOUS. We watched videos, a movie, cooked fried rice and I went through her whole library of songs. Heh. Whenever I hear Sexyback now, I think of you San!
